Tips for Choosing the Best Cruise Lines for Young Adults

Setting sail on a cruise is no longer reserved for families and retirees. Younger travelers are starting to hit the deck more, because honestly, what’s better than an all-inclusive trip (alcohol and soft drinks can be included for an extra fee) aboard a ship at sea with stops in some of the most beautiful places in the world?

Q. So, what's the best cruise line for a young adult like me?

A. The best cruise line for someone who's looking to have a fun and memorable time with like-minded (and aged) individuals is Carnival Cruise Line. After all, their motto is "Fun for all and all for fun."

From deck parties to musicals and comedy shows, Carnival cruises offer a wide range of activities for the average cruiser. If the nightlife and pool parties aren't at the top of the must-do list, and lounging around by the pool or getting a massage is more your speed, they have those too. There's something for everyone aboard a Carnival cruise.

Q. Which cruise line will give me the most bang for my buck?

A. Traveling is not cheap, and vacation expenses can add up quickly. So saving some money while still being able to enjoy a trip is a huge plus. Thankfully, no sacrifices need to be made when it comes to finding an affordable cruise.

Today, it's almost impossible to NOT find a good deal on almost any cruise line. Booking early -- roughly six to eight months before the sail date -- will most likely get you the best deal. But, if booking early isn't your style, many cruise lines offer deals for those looking to go on vacation as soon as possible.

For example, cruise lines such as Carnival or Royal Caribbean list their deals directly on their websites. However, it also doesn't hurt to peek at third-party websites like Priceline or Expedia to see if they are offering even better savings for spontaneous trips.

Q. When is the best time to hit the deck and have some fun?

A. The best time to cruise the seas with a younger crowd is during spring and summer break -- basically any time when school is not in session. Young adults tend to travel more when there aren't many restrictions on their schedule.

However, there are other options if a cruise during spring and summer break is out of the question. Shorter cruise trips and warm destinations such as the Caribbean or Mexico almost guarantee a younger crowd on the ship.

Now that you've got all this knowledge in your arsenal, what are you waiting for? It's time to set sail!
